The January attack on Microsoft was worse than initially reported, with an update from the company indicating the Russian hackers may have stolen source code and accessed private email exchanges between corporate accounts and customers.
Hackers have apparently been able to gain illicit access to the web hosting company since at least 2019. It is not clear when the source code was stolen (or exactly what pieces were taken), but malware was apparently planted in the cPanel control system.
Another breach of GitHub repositories is causing another big problem for authentication services provider Okta. Client login information does not appear to have been compromised in the breach, but the theft of some amount of source code has raised some concerns about future developments.
